Question 1

Why is it called Chaos Orchestra?

Accepted Answer

The noise in Matt Thomas's head has always been there. Somewhere along the way he stopped trying to silence it and started trying to understand it, and that changed everything. There is a particular kind of noise that lives inside certain people's heads: competing voices from different versions of themselves, looping thoughts, feelings that arrive without warning, cause carnage, and leave a dysregulated nervous system behind. Chaos Orchestra is named for that experience.

Question 2

What is psychoeducation and why does it matter for ADHD, OCD, anxiety and trauma?

Accepted Answer

Psychoeducation means learning about your condition in a structured, evidence-based way: understanding why your brain or nervous system works the way it does, what's driving the patterns you experience, and what you can actually do about it. For people with ADHD, OCD, anxiety, trauma, addiction, or neurodiversity, psychoeducation is often transformative because it replaces shame and self-blame with understanding. When you know what's actually happening neurologically, you can start working with it rather than against it.

Question 3

Who is Chaos Orchestra for?

Accepted Answer

Chaos Orchestra is for individuals living with ADHD, autism, OCD, addiction and recovery, trauma, anxiety, rejection sensitivity dysphoria, and related conditions, as well as the practitioners (coaches, therapists, counsellors) who work with these populations. It has particular relevance for people in the music industry and creative sectors, where these conditions occur at significantly elevated rates. No diagnosis is required to start learning.

Question 4

Is the content on Chaos Orchestra evidence-based?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The psychoeducational content is grounded in established clinical literature: neuroscience, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, cognitive behavioural models, and the peer-reviewed research on ADHD, OCD, trauma, and addiction. It is also written by someone with lived experience of the conditions covered, which matters. Chaos Orchestra is not a substitute for therapy or clinical treatment, but a place to build understanding and practical capacity between sessions, or as a starting point before you can access them.

Question 5

Can therapists and coaches use Chaos Orchestra with clients?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Chaos Orchestra has a dedicated practitioner workspace where therapists, counsellors, and coaches can build and assign bespoke learning paths for individual clients. Instead of emailing PDF handouts or pointing clients at YouTube, practitioners can curate structured psychoeducational content and track client progress through the platform.

Question 6

I know what I need to do but I can't make myself start. Is this ADHD?

Accepted Answer

This is one of the most commonly reported ADHD experiences, and one of the most misunderstood. It isn't laziness, lack of will, or not caring enough. It's a problem with task activation: the ADHD brain often struggles to initiate tasks without sufficient urgency, interest, challenge, or emotional salience, even when the person knows exactly what needs doing and genuinely wants to do it. Chaos Orchestra's ADHD learning path covers the neuroscience behind task activation, why willpower-based approaches fail for ADHD brains, and practical strategies that actually work for the way your nervous system is built.

Question 7

I was diagnosed with ADHD but nobody explained anything. Where do I start?

Accepted Answer

A diagnosis without explanation is unfortunately common: you leave with a label and, often, a prescription, but no real map of what's actually happening in your brain or why you've struggled in the specific ways you have. The Chaos Orchestra ADHD self-mapping assessment is a good starting point: 75 questions across eight domains of ADHD experience, producing a bespoke personal report that maps your specific friction zones, strengths, and the practical supports your brain actually needs. No prior knowledge required.

Question 8

I have intrusive thoughts I'm ashamed of. Can Chaos Orchestra help?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Intrusive thoughts are one of the defining and least-talked-about features of OCD, and they are far more common than most people realise. The shame attached to them often prevents people from ever mentioning them to anyone, including their therapist. Chaos Orchestra's OCD psychoeducation covers the nature of intrusive thoughts, why the brain produces them, why suppression makes them worse, and how evidence-based approaches like ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) work. Understanding the mechanism is the first step to reducing its power.

Question 9

I mask my difficulties at work but fall apart at home. Is that a recognised pattern?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is called masking, and it's extremely common among people with ADHD, autism, OCD, and anxiety. The sustained cognitive and emotional effort of appearing neurotypical in professional settings depletes the resources needed to regulate at home. Many people receive no support because they appear to be functioning well from the outside. Chaos Orchestra addresses masking directly in several learning paths, covering why it happens, what it costs, and how to start building environments and strategies that don't require you to perform a version of yourself that doesn't exist.

Question 10

What is rejection sensitivity dysphoria (RSD) and how does it relate to ADHD?

Accepted Answer

Rejection sensitivity dysphoria is an intense emotional response to perceived or actual rejection, failure, or criticism, disproportionate in its intensity and often overwhelming in its speed of onset. It is strongly associated with ADHD, though it also appears alongside other neurodivergent and anxiety-related conditions. People with RSD can experience it as a sudden, total emotional collapse triggered by something as small as a delayed text reply or a neutral tone of voice. It is not a character flaw. It is a neurological response pattern, and understanding it changes how you manage it. Chaos Orchestra covers RSD in depth within the ADHD learning path.

Question 11

I work in the music industry and I think something is wrong. Who is Chaos Orchestra for in that world?

Accepted Answer

The music industry has significantly elevated rates of ADHD, OCD, addiction, trauma, anxiety, and neurodiversity compared to the general population, and historically very poor access to meaningful mental health support. Chaos Orchestra was founded by Matt Thomas, co-founder of Music Support, with twenty years inside the industry and twelve working with the people it tends to break. The platform is for anyone in the creative industries who has been managing on instinct, running on adrenaline and chaos, and never quite had a framework to understand what's actually happening. You don't need a diagnosis. You don't need to have hit a crisis point. You just need to be willing to look.
